After scoring a podium on his debut weekend in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship last time out, the latest rounds at Snetterton proved challenging for Weiron Tan in the season’s first triple-header at the Norfolk track. Despite the Malaysian demonstrating his talent and speed and securing two pole positions, circumstances prevented him from converting them into results.

After making big improvements to his Fortec Motorsports car between free practice and qualifying, Weiron was confident of strong grid positions for the weekend. Complications in the first qualifying session meant he would start the first of the weekend’s three races from the very back of the grid in 20th, but his true pace was evident in the remainder of qualifying as he locked out pole positions for the second and third races. Podium for Tan on Protyre Formula Renault Debut

Weiron Tan made his Protyre Formula Renault and immediately set his intentions for the season, sealing a hard-fought podium finish in the first race at Donington Park.

With a schedule compacted into one day, Weiron embarked on his first qualifying on the national circuit at Donington Park on Sunday morning with the Fortec Motorsports team. The 2013 Protyre Formula Renault has a strong 18-car grid, with drivers competing from across ten nationalities. Weiron Tan joins Fortec Motorsports for Protyre Formula Renault

Malaysian racer Weiron Tan is pleased to announce that he will compete in the 2013 Protyre Formula Renault Championship with British team; Fortec Motorsports.

Weiron Tan, who is part of the Caterham F1 Academy, moves into Protyre Formula Renault off the back of four race victories out of a possible six in the Formula Gulf 1000 Series; the Championship in which he scored his first Formula race win in February this year. In 2012 he completed a part-season of the JK Racing Asia Series where he finished seventh overall in the standings; taking two podiums along the way. Read More…

Weiron Tan continued his strong performances in the Formula Gulf 1000 Series as he rounded off the season with a race victory in Dubai. Having come into the series with just three weekends remaining, he has immediately made his mark, taking four race victories out of a possible six.

Heading into race day at the Dubai Autodrome, Weiron had scored three out of four wins in the winter series after making his series debut in February at Abu Dhabi. He followed that up with a perfect weekend at Yas Marina two weeks ago, dominating the field and taking both available race victories. Read More…
